Client testimonials

I adopted Sheba on a Thursday from the Morgan County Humane Society and she was about 8-9 years old. That Sunday she became very lethargic and not eating so I took her to St. Francis' Pet Hospital the next day. Turns out she had pneumonia. This was 1.5 years ago. They took marvelous care of Sheba. They got her temperature down and got her through the pneumonia. They kept her all day for me while I was at work for many weeks to keep an eye on her. I would then pick her up after work and take her back again the next morning. I will never be able to thank St. Francis enough for the above and beyond care they gave for my girl. I highly recommend St. Francis to anyone. The staff there now is just as wonderful and caring as the were 1.5 years ago.

—Susan R.

I highly recommend St Francis' Pet Hospital. We have been going there for several years. We have taken 3 dogs and 2 cats to them for all their care. The doctors treat them as if they were their own.

—Ronald G.

I have been taking my little Skipper to St Francis [Pet Hospital] for little over two years and they are the friendliest staff. They do an amazing job and they really care about the animals that come in their office. I give them a 100%, but just know that they are human and they could honestly make a mistake, but I'd refer them to other pet owners.

—Brett T.

Dr. Bob is amazing! He always takes great care of my fur babies. He has a kind manner about him. I have gone through a few vets looking for a kind hearted soul for my babies. My aunt referred me to Dr. Bob. I'm so glad she did. And to top it off, he has packages to save you money. Doesn't get any better!

—Heather S.

The entire staff showed dedicated concern for our problems and their professionalism was outstanding.

- Richard R.

St. Francis' Pet Hospital has been taking care of our 2 Yorkies Chiki and Missi for a couple of years now. The vets and the support staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The facility is clean and offers a very nice environment. You can even get inside the exam room with your dog when the vet checks them out or when they are giving vaccinations. They are also easy to talk with during my previous visits. We definitely would recommend them to anyone when they get a new pet or even for their old pets.

—Alex N.

Doc Jess is the most compassionate vet that I have encountered. I recommend her & St. Francis to everyone that I know.

- Aundrea H.

I always feel like they really care about my pets.

- Judy H.

I love all the doctors and staff at St. Francis... They listen to me and truly care about my animals & their well being. Also… open til 7pm… I highly recommend St. Francis Pet Hospital to anyone looking for courteous staff and excellent doctors!!

-Theresa E.

Dr. Earl and the staff were courteous, knowledgeable and most of all seemed to truly care about my dog, Ginger.

-Sherrell P.

Called for an appointment and got in the same day. I'm very happy with all services I have received from staff and doctors. Thanks!!!

-Nancy F.

I own two Lakeland Terriers (valued at $3000 each) and I totally trust Dr. Bob with my dogs. I plan all of their appointments around Dr. Bob's schedule and dread if he is not in and they might have a problem. The other veterinarians are great too, but Dr. Bob is our go to guy! Thanks for taking such good care of my dogs.

—Alice O.

All the staff are so friendly and courteous. They always answer any questions I have and dote on my fur baby.

- Nora B.

It's difficult to watch your pet struggle, St. Francis helped make this process as good as it could be. Thank you for caring for my little baby.

-Christen B.

They took great care of my dog “Nacho”! The nurses made sure to fully explain the steps I needed to take after his surgery and the doctor himself made sure make sure to inform we had options and not just one choice. Definitely will not be taking my animals any place else!

-Don G.

Dr. Thomas Parell, DVM, Founder & Owner

Dr. Parell (also known to his clients as “Doc Tom”) established his first of three veterinary practices in 1993. He was born and raised in Newark, NJ and attended St. Benedict’s Prep School, following the footsteps of his three older brothers. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Villanova University & Dickinson College with a major in psychology and a minor in chemistry. It was after spending a day in a local veterinary clinic that he fell in love with veterinary medicine, which led him to earn his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. Dr. Parell then went on to earn his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania - a school whose MBA program has been ranked No. 1 in the world.

Suitingly, Dr. Parell met his wife, Barbara, in a veterinary office before working together on a pig farming project.. They have 5 children - two of which are in veterinary school - and they spend much of their time in Indiana and Montana where they can fish, ski, enjoy photography, hike, and Dr. Parell can practice flying. Now that their children are grown, Dr. Parell and his wife share their home with their three dogs, Alba (Bull Terrier), Trapper (Hungarian Vizsla), and Scout (German Shepherd).

Time spent on her extended family’s farm in Tennessee even further sparked her interest, and after graduating high school she went on to earn her bachelor's in biology from attend Franklin College and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007.

He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA) and the Central Indiana Veterinary Medical Association (CIVMA).

Dr. Sievers enjoys the great outdoors, whether it include hiking in state parks, gardening, bow hunting, or catching a movie at the local drive-in theater.

Dr. Suzanne Ostle became a member of the St. Francis’ Pet Hospital team in the fall of 2017. Raised in Iowa, she attended Wartburg College, earning a degree in Biology, and went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the College of Veterinary Medicine - Iowa State University in 1985.

From a young age, and with the help of her grandfather, she began learning how to care for and responsibly approach animals - including his cows, which she affectionately referred to each by the name of “Pretty”. Dr. Martin went on to earn her bachelor’s in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) followed by her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988.

She’s a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA).

Dr. Earl Annable, DVM

Dr. Earl Annable (also known by clients as “Doc Earl”) was first drawn to veterinary medicine by his sincere love for animals and people alike.

He attended the University of Illinois for his undergraduate studies with a focus in biology. He then accelerated his undergraduate experience and eagerly entered the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, from which he graduated with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2001. Since then, Dr. Annable has been practicing medicine across the Midwest and East Coast, with locations including Maryland, Illinois, and now Indiana. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

When he’s not practicing medicine, Dr. Annable’s greatest interests reside in learning about and practicing his Catholic faith, spending time with his wife and very talented six children, drawing, writing, photography, comedy, musicals, history, music, and enjoying the company of his three cats.

St. Francis of Assisi, the namesake of our clinics, was an Italian Roman Catholic friar, deacon, and preacher. St. Francis believed that people have a duty to promote peace by protecting and enjoying nature as both the stewards of God's creation and as creatures ourselves. Many of the stories that surround the life of St. Francis say that he had a great love for animals and the environment. Much in part due to the parallels between his mission and that of our practice, St. Francis’ Pet Hospital was the name given to our clinics.

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace

Where there is hatred let me sow love

Where there is injury, pardon

Where there is doubt, faith

Where there is despair, hope

Where there is discord, unity

Where there is error, truth

Where there is darkness, light

And where there is sadness, joy

O divine master, grant that I may

Not so much seek to be consoled as to console

To be understood as to understand

To be loved as to love

For it is in giving that we receive

It is in pardoning that we are pardoned

And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life

A Multi-Faceted Experience...

Each extern will be assigned to one supervising doctor; yet, externs can work with each of the other practice doctors if the college’s program permits. Regardless of the assigned supervising doctor, our environment will allow each student the opportunity to witness the differences in approach among various practitioners.
